the word of God

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."  - John 15:7 NIV
God always remains in me. There's never a need to emphasize God keeping His part of the deal. That part is already done and taken care of. The issue lies within me.
Part one; if i remain in Him. Keeping close to His word, the Bible, meditating on it "day and night" in expectance of prosperity and success. Isn't that what we all want: prosperity and success? That is our "wish" that will be done for us. How many verses does it take for me to remember that I need to keep in God's word for success? Or rather, can I recognize that these multitude of verses reflect the sinful nature of humans? We need, I need, a continuing reminder. But the funny thing is, I need to continue to read to get that reminder. It shows that whatever time I may be spending with God, it's not enough and it never will be here on Earth.
Part two; if His words remain in me. I continuously am reminded in the importance of viewing Bible studies and Bible readings as two things. Both are necessary and neither are interchangeable with one another. If remaining in God would be daily Bible readings and devotionals, than remaining in His words would be the unending meditation, thought, and study that proceeds the initial reading.

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you."

Increase the meaning of the word. Dwell, meditate, chew on the word. Apply the word. Build confidence in God and deny myself.
